Home delivery in Slovenia works exceptionally well. It’s reliable, familiar, and deeply trusted. That makes expanding a parcel locker network a real challenge.
For Pošta Slovenije, every new location has to earn its place.
Here’s how Pošta Slovenije uses Mily Tech to scout high-potential locations, plan rollouts with confidence, and ensure every parcel locker pays off.
Pošta Slovenije is committed to transforming from a traditional postal operator into a modern logistics and postal company, putting its customers at the heart of the transformation.
The post has seen recognition for these efforts, including being named Postal Operator of the Year at the 2025 World Post & Parcel Awards and achieving 96% delivery satisfaction.

The company operates an extensive network of over 1,600 collection points across Slovenia, including post offices, petrol stations, delivery boxes, and parcel lockers. Committed to making its services more accessible, Pošta Slovenije set a goal to double the number of parcel lockers across Slovenia.
A few years ago, Pošta Slovenije launched a pilot with a handful of parcel lockers. By the end of 2025, the network grew to over 300 lockers. But the journey has been challenging, shaped by Slovenia’s market dynamics.
"In countries where picking up parcels at the post office was the norm, parcel lockers became popular right away. But here, where home delivery has always been the preference, adoption has been much slower," explains Matej Raspet.
In Slovenia, being a postie isn’t just a job. It’s the 3rd most trusted profession in the country. When home delivery is reliable, familiar, and consistently satisfying, out-of-home delivery doesn’t get an easy win. There isn’t a burning pain pushing customers to switch, no missed deliveries or frustrating unpredictability.

Cross-border e-commerce ramped up parcel volumes across Europe. With platforms like Temu entering the picture, Slovenian parcel and postal operators started expanding parcel locker networks to reduce pressure on existing infrastructure.
We realized that if we wanted people to use parcel lockers, we couldn't force them to, even if it meant less stress for our network. Delivering to a parcel locker when the customer chose their home or work address would only cause frustration. It had to be their choice.

Instead, adoption grew by listening to what customers need. They introduced the MojaPošta application, allowing customers to select their preferred parcel locker and choose when to redirect shipments from their home address to it.

With customer habits shifting, it was time to expand fast. As competition intensified and impending regulations loomed, decisions about where and how to expand became difficult.
The previous method was manual and slow. The team knew where post offices were located and which regions had high population density, and used that information to guide locker placement. But location scouting could stretch for weeks, and without a shared view of data, the team relied on assumptions.
While the approach was enough for the initial rollout, it lacked the precision needed for strategic expansion. Manual planning made it hard to answer the next-level questions before committing budget. Small location changes could shift coverage, but “what if” scenarios were difficult to model in spreadsheets and maps.
With Mily Tech, that changed.
When we first saw what was possible, it felt like a different world. Suddenly, we could test ideas before committing investments. We could see the network in context.

Given the increased risk and complexity of expansion, Pošta Slovenije decided to partner with Mily Tech.
In the current network phase, Pošta Slovenije uses the OOH delivery analytics solution to:
Once we tested the platform ourselves, we could see its potential. We can find high-potential locations quickly, and having everyone work from the same data is a big advantage.
Gašper Arnejčič, Expert for Delivery and Project Manager
For the team, the differentiator wasn’t only having data, it was seeing it in context. "Seeing competitor locations gives us the full picture," says Jakob Bertole. "It shows us where to focus. For these investments to pay off, we need confidence in each location we choose."

And just as importantly, the platform evolved quickly as real needs emerged.
“The speed of development really stands out. We’d come in with a problem or an idea, and the feature would show up quickly. Photo uploads, different pin colors to distinguish results… That responsiveness makes all the difference,” Gašper adds.

In two years, Pošta Slovenije expanded its automated locker network from 124 to over 300 locations. The next milestone is to double that footprint.
With the analytical foundation in place, expansion decisions no longer need to be driven by instinct alone.
With Mily Tech, Pošta Slovenije is all set to double its parcel locker network, prioritizing the right locations, enabling teams to align faster, and ensuring a single place to track everything from scouting to rollout.
